Behold the Chateaugay Chasm!
This incredible waterfall, 120 feet tall, is cut into cavern walls that soar into the surrounding forest.
Access is by hiking path and a series of stairs which bring visitors to the base of the chasm, with boulders and a rocky beach at the base of the falls. There is more hiking along the Chateaugay River to return to the campground. Small admission fee.
The Chasm can be part of a wonderful day trip to Chateaugay, which is only ten minutes away from the heart of Malone.
In its long history, it is also known as Chateaugay Falls, High Falls (which is the name of the campground where it is located,) and High Falls Chasm. But by any name, it is just as spectacular!
