It's back - and this year's Fall For History theme is "The Stories We Tell"
Please join us for our 4th Annual Fall for History event on October 5 from 12-4 at the House of History at 51 Milwaukee St. This year, through our theme “The Stories We Tell,” you will be treated to the many different ways there are to tell a story. Native American storyteller and author, James Bruchac, will be telling animal lesson stories and presenting a writing workshop.
Once again, the King Arthur Flour Baking Contest will be taking place with an adult category of apple pie and a children’s category of apple cake. There will be ribbons and prizes awarded.
There will be a presentation on the storytelling quilts of people traveling north using the Underground Railroad.
Children are invited to make our famous molasses cookies in our Grandma’s Kitchen, sharing family cooking stories as they work.
People will be encouraged to tell their “Stories of Old” and have them recorded to be made into a CD. Local artists will be on hand to tell us the story behind some of their finished works. Local historical societies will be telling “Stories From the Hop Yards,” “Postcard Picture Stories,” “Patriotic Songs,” and much more.
A scavenger hunt will be taking place throughout the afternoon.
The Wead Library will have a reading tent.
All this plus food, games, contests and more! There is something for everyone. Please join us for this FREE event and help us celebrate Franklin County and its history!
