Sometimes the best part of vacation in the winter is getting to sit back, feet up, with a warm beverage in hand...just watching the kids have fun, burning their energy, and then falling into bed after a full day of fun activity. Well, Malone has you covered with all that fun activity that burns off that joyful energy. A bonus is that there are many options for family fun that is affordable. Check out my list below for some ideas. The fun is not limited to just the kids here. Adults can join in too.

Tubing and Skiing at Titus Mountain Family Ski Center

Voted #1 Family Ski Area in North America by Liftopia Magazine, Titus is much more than a ski center. Families can enjoy tubing and skiing to their heart's delight. For beginner skiers, there are lessons and special deals like the Learn to Ride Ski Passport for the kids, which includes lift tickets and rentals at a discounted cost. The family will be busy all day with three mountains and over 50 trails. In the evenings at the lodge this place turns into a family friendly party with live music on select nights.

Ice skating at the Malone Civic Center

The Malone Civic Center is located on a scenic hill just off of Main Street, making it accessible to most lodging in the Malone area. The rink is open to skating, you just have to bring the skates. After an afternoon of skating, stop off at one of the restaurants along Main Street.

Chateaugay Town Hall Theater

This a great venue that hosts movies, live music, plays, and even comedy shows. They often show children's matinees so check their schedule on their Facebook page. Attending the theater might not be the same as burning off energy, but it allows the family time to soak in some good entertainment while just relaxing. Very little physical exertion needed.

A horse drawn sleigh ride at Gordon Family Farm and Sawmill

Winter in the Adirondacks wouldn't be complete without a cozy horse drawn sleigh ride. Gordon Family Farm and and Sawmill offers this age-old tradition. The sleigh ride will take you through an open field and a series of backcountry trails that lands at a warm, roaring fire where you can toast marshmallows and sip hot cocoa. This magical ride makes winter a treat. Rides are by appointment only.

Bowling at Lucky Strike Lanes

Sometimes you have to do it, and you always remember how fun it is once you do it. Bowling, that is. Sure, the Adirondacks are an outdoor winter paradise. But some afternoons you gotta trade in the skis, the snow tubes, and the skates for a day of indoor fun. Bowling always delivers.
